Played in Hayden again today and revisited fishcreek falls. We were determined to climb to the base of the waterfall (even if Mrs. Ahsmann found herself face down on wet rock). We finally made it and the hike/climb made us appreciate the falls even more.
We also tubed down a river for a good hour, which was relaxing and beautiful.
The team played in a charming, run down town called Hayden today. There was some sort of draw to this town for me, and I think it had to do with a strong sense of community that ran through the streets.
I think some of the pixelation is messed up with some of these pictures , , , but oh well.
We had to drive a good fifty minutes to get the the game today, and luckily they got one of their two games in before it got rained out on account of a gigantic front that decided to dominate the fields.
In between the games we stopped at a local Kmart where I had an epic sword fight with Mrs. Ahsmann.
That bright eyed young feller' in the first picture is Casey Oliver, and I have a sneaking suspicion that he may be a photographer one day . . .
The boys played and won their first game today. I wish I could play ball like them, I was never that good at their age.
The barn picture was the result of driving around for a while trying to find this particular barn that Mrs. Salm's husband wanted a picture of because he had a picture of it in the winter.
So today was my first full day in Colorado, and I have to say I was really taken back by the natural landscapes of this area.
We woke up early to watch my brother's baseball team do some drills and skills competitions, and we watched them at the "opening day ceremonies" which were held at a local rodeo (The teams were all herded into the cow pens, which I found really funny).
After the ceremonies, the team and families all headed up to fishcreek falls so we could really experience this region of the US. This park was so vast and beautiful; with mountains and proud pine trees standing all the way up the mountains, but the real awe was the result of viewing the massive waterfall.
Also, I happened to snap that photograph of the deer right before my mother almost ran it over, haha.
So today was my first day, and first experience in Colorado.
Some of these pictures were ones that I edited on the plane (The one of Frank, and the one of Arizona from last summer).
After a two and a half hour plane ride, my mother and I rented a car and proceeded to drive another three hours north to the beautiful ski town of Steamboat Springs.
I enjoyed the scenery, but I was hungry for a taste of what Colorado was really like.
